Ruins of 19th Post in Polonnaruwa – 19 කණුව පුරාවිද්යා ස්ථානය
The city of Polonnaruwa is packed with ruins of the ancient kingdom. Although most of the town is now urbanized, you still find some ruins outside the main archaeological areas. The ruins identified as the “19th post ruins” on a regular archaeological board lies between Polonnaruwa and Kaduruwela, about 1.7 km from the Polonnaruwa clock tower.
The site consists of a large mound with large trees grown over it, and some pillars fallen and standing in the surrounding area. The mound of earth is probably an un-restored ancient stupa. The small piece of land which the ruins lies is surrounded by private land and some pillars can be seen on these lands.
