The Rock Slab Falls is one of the waterfalls mentioned by Dr. Eberhard Kautzsch’s in his book “A Guide to Waterfalls of Sri Lanka” published in 1983, considered the first book published exclusively on known waterfalls of Sri Lanka.
His description of the waterfall is as follows ;
“Set in sylvan grandeur these falls divide transversely in two from a broad ledge of a rock right across the upper most part of Belihul Oya. Studed with small pools and narrow runs and a deep pool of some size and depth into which from a height of about 6m more than the half the river blows. A rarely used path westward from Far Inn to the adjacent forest covered hills (2km) takes one to the falls. “
The marker points to the assumed location of the waterfall based on number of sources.
