Sugandhipuram (Suthanthipuram) village is located in the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat of Mullaitivu. To reach Sugandhipuram (Suthanthipuram) Junction, one needs to travel 24.5 km along the Paranthan-Puthukkudiyiruppu road. The distance from Puthukkudiyiruppu to this junction is 10 km. From that junction, travel approximately 6 km towards Sugandhipuram Colony. At the junction known as Satellite Junction, turn left onto the 16th Artillery Support Regiment Camp road and travel about 2.5 km. The archaeological site is located on the left side of the road, facing it.

The Stupa Mound

Right beside this road, on the left, a stupa mound rises about two meters high. Its diameter is approximately 10 meters. In the center of the stupa mound, treasure hunters have dug a pit of about 3×3 meters to a depth of about one meter. About ten layers of bricks are visible inside this pit. North of this mound, on the other side of the road, there is a place that can be presumed to be a pond with a diameter of about 50 meters.

Other Ruins

About twenty meters west of the stupa mound, a small mound with small stone pillars is visible. This site has also been excavated by treasure hunters, and remnants of a wall belonging to that mound are visible.

It appears that many of the stone pillar fragments unearthed at this site were previously buried under the soil and have been exposed due to the excavations by treasure hunters.
