|Height :||30 metres|
The 30m Udagama Duwili Ella fall is famous for its misty spray. Because of this enchanting beauty, its name is ascribed. The arrant drop of the fall on to a rock creates misty spray, which engulf the surroundings. A hydropower project harnessing the fall’s water supply generates 5kw of electricity to 125 agricultural families. Fields are irrigated by the brook feeding the waterfall. In addition to this, a drinking water network is also there to water supply the village from the downed water of the fall.
There are two routes to this perennial waterfall. One runs from Ratnapura -Embilipitiya Road. To follow this route turn at Pallebedda and travel for 2km along Kumburugamuwa Road, go from Udagama Junction to Udagama. A woodlot is met there. A traveler has to trek through wilderness for about a km to reach the fall.
There is another waterfall (Udagama Handapan Ella) about 200m away which is in nexus with another water way. The traveler, to this place, is privileged to visit two waterfalls in a single visit. The catchments of both Ella Uda Conservation & the upper reach of the fall are located in the wetlands, resulting in abundance of rainfall.
