Horawadunna Sri Sudarshana Shailabimbaramaya Tampita Viharaya

Horawadunna Sri Sudarshana Shailabimbaramaya is a temple which lies between Pannala and Kuliyapitiya. To reach the temple you need to travel 2.3km on the Kuliyapitiya road and turn right on to the Horawadunna-Kotuwella road. Traveling another 2.5km on this and another by-road will bring you to this temple.

Tampita Vihara was a popular architectural feature during the Kandyan kingdom where the temple was built on a platform which was held on an array of pillars, mostly stone.

Unfortunately the stone pillars which held the Horawadunna Tampita Viharaya has been all covered with a wall during a later renovation. No circumambulating path is found at this structure. The viharaya is 6.71 meters long and 5.10 meters wide. The roof is held by 26 wooden pillars fixed on to the raised platform.
