Bandiyamulla Mausoleum is a hidden monument in Gampaha which is not known even to the people of Gampaha. The Mausoleum lies by the road 1 km towards Gampaha from Miriswatte junction. This structure is hidden from view due to a new shopping complex built recently.

Made of blocks of stone, this majestic mausoleum is built elevated from ground on a platform. At the entrance you find a flight of six steps with a finely carved moonstone and a pair of balustrades similarly fashioned to ancient buddhist buildings. Using the same architectural features, a border carved with various forms of Ghana runs around the bottom of the building.

In the 1930’s he built a palatial Walawwa in Bandiyamulla and named it “Agra” on a 72 acre land which he owned. This is an eight bedroom house with servants quarters and french styled windows. Intricately carved center staircase is a majestic piece of woodwork. All the furniture has been made of Nadun timber contains carvings, some including tales such as the story of the fox and the grape, the fox and the crow etc. This building has been purchased by the government in 1978 along with 12 acres of land and today it houses the Gampaha District Secretariat.
