Beaches of Trincomalee – ත්රිකුණාමල මුහුදු වෙරල
Trincomalee is considered one of the newest hot spot for tourism. 30 years of terror of the Tamil Tigers had saved the beaches of east cost from being commercialized. Kilometers of empty white sandy beaches with crystal clear sea has make Trincomalee one of the most sought after beach destinations.
Trincomalee is lies in the dry zone and it generally its sunny throughout the year. The temperature can reach up to 35°-36° C (95°-96°F) during April to September period. Lot of rain can be expected during January, February, September, October, November and December.

Trincomalee Town Beach
Lying right in the city just before the Trincomalee Fort, this is the most popular beach for local pilgrims who come to Trincomalee. You can find bus loads of local tourists during holiday season. The sea is very safe to bath.
When it comes to great beaches, you will be spoiled for choice along the east coast of Sri Lanka. Uppluweli Beach and Nilaveli Beach are two of the best. Traveling about 5 km to the north from Trincomalee town lies Uppuveli Beach which is a popular tourist destination with number of good beach hotels. Still unspoilt and picture clean.
11 kilometers north from the Tricomalee town lies Nilaveli Beach, the most famous of Tricomalee Beaches with best star class hotels on a kilometer stretch of unspoiled white sandy beach. Access to Pigeons Island Corrals is through this beach.
Lying inside the Koddiar Bay (Trincomalee Bay) is a good beach for peaceful bath. The Marble Beach Resort, and air force run resort lies at the beach.
