When it comes to great beaches, you will be spoiled for choice along the east coast of Sri Lanka. Pasikudah and Kalkudah are two great beach stretches just 33 kilometers away from Batticaloa. The two beaches lie on the two sides of a point. The northern side of the point is called Pasikudha and the southern side is called Kalkudah. Both of the beaches consists of kilometers of unspoiled white sandy beaches and shallow seas ideal for bathing.
Due to the distance from main cities, these beaches are relatively uncrowded although it can be busy during weekends.
Number of star class hotels and boutique hotels have come up on these beach strips during the last few years giving the visitors a wide choice of accommodation.
