The Colombo Harbor Pilot Station Lighthouse is one of six lighthouses within Colombo Harbour, built in 1885 alongside the harbor’s breakwater.

Standing 19 metres (62 feet) high, the lighthouse is constructed of stone and has a cylindrical form. At its base are two circular floors that house the pilot station. The focal plane is at 17 meters (56 feet), and the tower produces a green flash every three seconds.

Painted white, the structure includes living quarters designed to accommodate four duty pilots. It has been refurbished in recent years, with modern facilities such as air conditioning, a new galley, and upgraded living spaces.

Today, the upper section of the tower serves as a Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) control center, equipped with radar and radio systems. At the lower level, living support continues with a resident steward or cook.
