Dalukgolla Sri Purwarama Rajamaha Viharaya is home to a well-preserved Tampita Viharaya, a traditional form of temple architecture from the Kandyan Era. A Tampita Viharaya is a shrine built on a raised wooden platform supported by stone or wooden pillars—an architectural style designed primarily to protect the timber structure from insect damage, especially termites.

These elevated temples were a distinctive feature of Kandyan-era construction, combining practicality with aesthetics and spiritual symbolism.

The Tampita Viharaya at Dalukgolla Sri Purwarama Rajamaha Viharaya was officially designated as a protected archaeological monument by the Department of Archaeology, under Gazette No. 14749, dated 19 May 1967.

To visit Dalukgolla Sri Purwarama Rajamaha Viharaya, travel from Nikaweratiya along the Kurunegala–Puttalam Road. The temple is located approximately 6 km from Nikaweratiya, heading toward Yapahuwa on the B326 road.
