Galkaruyaya, located in the village of Kalundewa within the Dambulla Divisional Secretariat of the Matale District, is a long-forgotten archaeological site now concealed within a small forest patch surrounded by paddy fields. The site features a series of beautifully chiseled stone pillars, some of which still stand upright, hinting at the grandeur of an ancient structure that once stood here.
Situated about 12 kilometers from Dambulla town and just 1 kilometer off the Matale–Dambulla main road, Galkaruyaya remains an intriguing yet neglected heritage site. Despite its historical and architectural value, it has been overtaken by vegetation and time, largely due to the absence of maintenance and the lack of public awareness or visitors to the area. No further details are avaiable on this site.
