Getakulawa Ambalama at Rikillagaskada is a small ambalama made out of brick and mortar. The building is square in its plan and four large pillars hold the roof of the building. The pillars are built using granite blocks held together by cement. ‘ A half-height wall goes around the building.
The roof is tiled with semi-cylindrical clay tiles (Sinhala ulu) and the typical “Kanimadala” design of a square ambalama can be seen in designing the roof. A clay pinnacle lies at the centre of the roof as in most Ambalamas.
Rikillagaskada lies about 37km from Kandy town and 5 kilometres past Hanguranketha town. From Hanguranketha take Dimbulkumbura road for 1 km to reach the Getakulawa junction where the Ambalama is located.
