Iddamalgoda Nilame (Iddamalgoda Rate Mahaththaya or Iddamalgoda Basnayake Nilame) was Basnayake Nilame of the historic Maha Saman Devalaya of Ratnapura between 1846 and 1888.

The Dhamma Sangayana held at Sri Sudarshana Dharmashalawa in Pelmadulla holds great significance in the Buddhist history of Sri Lanka. This purpose-built facility was constructed by Iddamalgoda Nilame and marks a notable event in his life. As it was his ambition to hold a council or at least an assembly of Bhikkhus to revise the Tri-Pitaka, he invited educated priests from all over the Island to Pelmadulla in the year 1867.

Iddamalgoda Nilame (Iddamalgoda Rate Mahaththaya or Iddamalgoda Basnayake Nilame) passed away in February 1888 and a monument memorialising his death was built in Pelmadulla.

This monument was built with stone blocks in the town of Pelmadulla. However, this was destroyed by treasure hunters in search of valuables inside the monument. The Department of Archaeology restored this monument some time a go some time ago. However, no maintenance of this land has been done thereafter and today it lies hidden among overgrown shrubs in the Pelmadulla town.
