Ipalogama Bodhirukkaramaya Tampita Viharaya- ඉපලෝගම බෝධිරුක්ඛාරාමය ටැම්පිට විහාරය
Ipalogama is a remote village in Kurunegala district about 50 km away from the Kurunegala town. Agriculture is the predominant livelihood of the villagers with paddy being the main crop. Until few years ago, the the Tampita Viharaya at Bodhirukkaramaya was limited to a set of stone pillars. The building on the pillars had finally completely fallen apart leaving only the pillars.
Few years ago, the chief incumbent of the temple Ipalogama Rathanasara Thero instituted an effort to rebuilt the tampita viharaya with the support of the department of Archaeology. The viharaya was rebuilt stating from scratch and was completed recently with all the traditional features of such a structure.
To reach the temple from Kurunegala, travel upto Padeniya on the Puttalam road and the turn tiwards Anuradhapura. Travel 20 km along this road up to Daladagama Junction and turn to left towards Nikaweratiya. Travel on this road for 4 km and turn towards Ipalogama village. Traveling a further 1.2 km on this road will bring you to the Bodhirukkaramaya Viharaya in Ippalogama.
