Lahugala Kirivehera Viharaya Archaeological Site – ලාහුගල කිරිවෙහෙර විහාරය පුරාවිද්යා භූමිය
Ruins of the ancient stupa and scattered ruins of an ancient temple complex inside the Lahugala Kirivehera Viharaya premises in Lahugala was declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows;
“Ancient Chaithya and ruins of Vihara complex in the territory of Kirivehera Viharaya, belonging to Lahugala village in Perani Lahugala PP 10 Grama Niladari Division in the Divisional Secretary’s Division, Lahugala in Ampara District in Eastern Province. (latitude 06º 86997′ N and longitude 081º 79986′ E).”
To reach the temple, turn on to the newly built concrete road to Neelagiri Maha Seya. Travel straight on this road (without taking the next turn towards Neelagiri Seya) for 1 km to reach this temple.
