Kudumbimalai Archaeological Site 03 (කුඩුම්බිමලෛ පුරාවිද්‍යා නටබුන් ස්ථානය 03)

Located in a Kudumbimalai paddy field, this ancient site consists of a 1.41-meter square structure with four short stone pillars in their original context. Though destroyed with no specific period determined, several similar pillars remain scattered across the surrounding agricultural land.

The Building Ruins Site is located in Kudumbimalai village, within the Grāma Niladhāri Division of Kudumbimalai (209-D), in the Divisional Secretariat Division of Kōralai Pattu South (Kiran).

Access Route

From Kiran Junction, turn left at Pulipanchakal Junction and travel along the road leading to Kudumbimalai village. Near the preschool, continue approximately 1.4 km along Ollikulam Road. Then turn onto the path running through the middle of the paddy field on the right and continue for about 100 meters. The ruins are located in the middle of the paddy field.

Historical Background

Although the available evidence does not allow the site to be assigned to a specific historical period, it has been confirmed as an ancient construction.

Site Location and Nature of Archaeological Evidence

The ruined site is located within a paddy field. As the built structures at the site have been destroyed, no other distinctive archaeological features remain visible.

The surviving structure consists of a square area measuring approximately 1.41 meters in length. Four short pillars erected within the frame remain in their original context. Several similar pillars are also found scattered across the surrounding paddy land.
