The 68m Madanagiri Ella Falls is also known as the Mohini Ella Falls, since villagers believe that a female apparition called Mohini haunts the area. The fall is situated in the Ratnapura District. Take the road from Ratnapura towards Weweltanne and the fall is to be found after 26 km.
LCWF above lists Madanagiri Ella as a 69 meter high fall but based on the photo provided by the site and directions, this fall is approximately 5-10 meters high based. Based on the photo, the possible location of the waterfall was identified and photographed. The water levels of this stream has reduced due a mini hydro plant at the bottom.
There are 2 waterfalls at the top of the steam which could be possibly Madanagiri Ella and the Pandioya Ella. The two waterfalls are at the same level probably on two streams, one falling on to the Pandi Oya. Its not easy to climb up to the waterfalls.
