Ampara Saddhatissa Maha Vidyalaya lies less than 2 km from the Ampara main roundabout. The school can be reached through the Deegagamini Road on the Ampara – Uhana road or through the Buddhangala Road  on the Ampara – Samanthure road.

The drip ledge cave, granite stairs and the remains of granite pillars of ancient buildings in side the school premises  has been  declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows ;

“Rock plain with drip ledged cave, flight of steps and other Graffiti, construction site with stone pillars at the premises of Sadhdhathissa Maha Vidyala belonging to Sadhdhathissapura village situated in the Grama Niladhari
Division No. W/86/A, Jayawardhanapura in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Ampara in Ampara District in Eastern Province. (latitude 07º 13′ 28.5” N and longitude 081º 34′ 22.1”E).”
