Just before the Mannar causeway, lies the road to Jaffna through Poonaryn (A32 road). Travelling 5.2 km on this road brings one to Mantai Junction. Turning right to Adampan Road and travelling 375 meters will bring you to a small cultivated land on the right.

An assortment of ruins such as bricks, tiles, and potsherds can be found in this 20 perch land situated 200m distance on Mantai-Adampan Road. These ruins have been dated to the period of the Anuradhapura kingdom. The land is used for cultivation and the ruins are disturbed due to ploughing.

There are black and red ware, black ware and red ware on this land. There is an old stone pillar in the eastern corner of the land. It is 70 cm in length and 27 cm in width. This site is situated about 500 m from the Mantai Mathota Rajamaha Viharaya and could be assumed to be land that belonged to that temple complex in the ancient past.
