Ayagama Minee Ella is a 10-meter-high waterfall cascading along the Heen Ganga in the Gangodakanda Division of Ayagama. Spanning a width of 15–20 meters, the waterfall reveals its full breadth only after heavy rain, when the stream swells dramatically.

Locals say the waterfall was once known as Gamith Kanda Ella (ගමිත් කන්ද ඇල්ල). However, after a series of tragic incidents, the name changed to Minee Ella, which literally means “Corpse Waterfall.” Stories circulate of two couples who leapt to their deaths here, an intoxicated youth who slipped and fell from the top, and even cattle swept downstream by a flash flood and found lifeless at the falls.

Despite these dark tales, the site is a popular bathing spot, thanks to its shallow pools and easy accessibility.

Getting There
From Horana, travel through Ingiriya towards the Dumbara Estate. After crossing the iron bridge over the Kalu Ganga River, continue towards Ayagama, passing the Kasimani Ella waterfall along the way. The total distance is about 17.5 km. Minee Ella lies just before the Sri Punyawardhanaramaya Temple.
