Palampiddi village is located in Madhu Divisional Secretariat Division i Mannar District. Palampiddi can be reached by taking the Medavachchiya-Mannar road towards Madhu Church and traveling passing the church for another 9 km.

Muthumari Kovil is located in the middle of Palampiddi village. A recently constructed temple can be seen at this place. However, according to the villagers, it is said that there was a kovil at this site that was more than a hundred years old.

Three ancient Siripatul stones (Footprints of Buddha carved on a stone slab) belonging to the early Anuradhapura era can be seen in this kovil. These 3 different Siripatul stones measure 75×80 cm, 53×51 cm and 37×43 cm in length and width.

On the way to this temple, another small kovil is built on the left side. A 98×90 cm Siripathul stone can also be seen in this small temple. Ashta Mangala marks can be seen on this Siripathul stone but heavily eroded. Part of the heel area of this Sripathul Stone is broken off to fix an image of Lord Gana on top of it.

It is believed that these four Siripatul stones were brought from nearby Buddhist ruins.
