A Tampita Viharaya is a structure built on a wooden platform which rests on a number of stone stumps usually 3-4 feet tall. The roof is held by a structure built of timber and the walls are generally made of wattle and daub.

Narangolla Tampita Viharaya structure stands on 1053 cm high stone pillars. The circumambulating path is 60cm wide on all aides. The complete structure is 5 meters long and 4 meters wide. The inner sanctum is 3.8mx2.8m in size.

The village of Narangolla lies in Matale District off Rattota accessible through the Gammaduwa Road or Ehelagastenna road. The temple lies about 2km off the main road on Ehelagastenna road.

The Tampita vihara of the Narangolla ancient vihara premises in the Grama Niladhari Division of Narangolle-E, in Ambanganga Divisional Secretary’s Division, in Matale District, Central Province was declared as a protected archaeological site by the gazette published on 6 June 2008.

No further information or photos are available on this site. The marker on the Google Map below shows the most possible location of the temple.
