Navodagama Archaeological Reserve – නවෝදාගම පුරාවිද්යා රක්ෂිතය

Navodagama (Nawodagama) lies between Oyamaduwa and Tanthirimale in the Mahavilachchiya Divisional Secretary’s Division. Navodagama Archaeological Reserve lies next to the Anuradhapura – Thantirimale Road and consist of granite base pillars of a Tampita Vihara ( a temple on pillars) and remains of a ancient stupa, granite pillars of other buildings, a granite statues and few other ruins.
These ruins has been preserved by the Department of Archaeology and known as the Navodagama Archaeological Reserve but fast overgrowing with weed.
The photos taken by Dr AG were taken in January 2015 but by December 2o15, the ruins of the Tampita Viharaya has almost disappeared.
