Kokkichchiya Siri Sambuddha Prathiharya Viharaya is another creation of Aluthgama Bogamuwe Saddharansi Thero who built the outdoor temple of Nellikulama Siri Sambuddha Panchasathika Charikaramaya. This temple too is built as an outdoor temple in a dry zone jungle, 2 kilometres off Nellikulama Pilima Pansala in the remote village of Kokkichchiya. The temple spread over 12 acres of land, is built with scenes in various Buddhist stories, all in life-size statues. The main building is a 2 stories image House of Thousand Buddha which is still being built.

Kokkichchiya Siri Sambuddha Prathiharya Viharaya has no historical value and is still not completed but due to its novelty it has become a popular destination for pilgrims to Anuradhapura and pilgrims to Thantirimale Rajamaha Viharaya.

The temple can be reached by taking the road to Thanthirimale (Arippu Road) from Anuradhapura. The temple lies right by this road about 6.5 km away down this road.
