Wattaramthanne Purana Viharaya lies hidden between the Mathurata and Mandaramnuwara in the Nuwara Eliya Distinct.
This ancient temple probably belongs to the Kandyan era and contains a number of relics which seem to be from different eras. One unique stone carving found at the temple is of interest. Although not so clear it shows a face with a strange headdress resembling a modern space suit.
