Wegowwa Ambalama in Minuwangoda is a considerably large wayside the size of a small house lying in the area known as Wegowwa between Minuwangoda and Divulapitiya. The Ambalama is believed to have been built by the regional king ‘Sakalakala Vallabha’ during the late 15th century.

Lacking the typical architectural features of ambalama buildings of the Kandyan region, this is a brick-and-mortar house with a single room and a half-height wall going around the building. The ambalama is built to a square cross plan with openings on the southern, eastern and western sides. The eastern side of the cross contains the room.

The roof is tiled with semi cylindrical clay tiles (Sinhala ulu). It has been renovated and painted in in white and blue losing much of its original feel.
