Wegowwa Ambalama in Minuwangoda is a considerably large wayside rest size of a small house lying in the area known as Wegowwa between Minuwangoda and Divulapitiya. The Ambalama is believed to be built by the regional king ‘Sakalakala Vallabha’ during the late 15th century.
Lacking the typical architectural features of ambalama buildings of Kandyan region, this is a brick and mortar house with a single room and a half height wall going around the building. The amblama is built to a square cross plan with openings on southern, eastern and western sides. The eastern side of the cross contains the room.
The roof is tiled with semi cylindrical clay tiles (sinhala ulu). It has been renovated and painted in in while and blue loosing much of its original feel.
