Handapangala Weherayaya 3rd Sector Archaeological Reserve – හඳපාන්ගල වෙහෙරයාය 3වන අදියර පුරාවිද්යා රක්ෂිතය

Handapangala, well known for its elephant corridor lies 10 km off Wellawaya and 25 km off Thanamalwila, lies on the Wellawaya – Wirawila road.
Deep in the jungles in Ethiliwewa off Handapangala, lies this ancient temple with the ruins of an ancient temple complex. Monolithic stone pillars some still standing on their original place, broken pillars, scatter this land indicating a floreshing temple in the Ruhunu kingdom.
To reach the site, travel to Ethiliwewa town either from Thanamalwila or Wellawaya. Form the town turn towards Etili Wewa reservoir which lies about 2km from the town. Travel pass the Ethili Wewa for another 2 km to reach this temple.
