This impressive 100m-high Dunsinane fall  (Pundalu Oya Ella) cascades in a spectacular sequence of steps before flowing to the Pundalu Oya (river), the Kotmale River and finally the Kotmale Reservoir. The nearest town is Pundalu Oya. This waterfall is also known as Dunsinane Falls, Dunsinan-Sheen Falls, Dansinanshin Falls, Pundalu Oya Ella.

This waterfall lies between 2 tea plantations  Dunsinane on on side and Sheen Estate on the other. Therefore this water fall is called Dunsinane Falls joining both names.

The waterfall flows in 2 segments bisected by the road bridge. The top segment falls over a wide rocky ledge creating a sheet of water falling a 30 meter drop. This is the only part of the waterfall which can be properly viewed from the bridge. The second part which is approx 70m high lies hidden below the bridge. Due to the steepness of the area going to the bottom of  the fall is difficult and area covering the river below has been designated as a high security zone with the Upper Kotmale Project.
