Gotuwala Ella is so called due the name of the village where the waterfall lies. The famous Nine Arch Bridge lies in the village of Gotuwala ( also referred to as Gotuwela).
The Gotuwala Ella waterfall can be only observed from the railway line and you need to hike along the railway track from Ella or Demodara.
If you start your hike on the railway track from Ella Station towards the Demodara Station, you can reach the Nine Arch Bridge after 2.5 kms. Passing this bridge and travelling a futher 1 km you will come to a bridge which the water from the Gotuwala Ella flows beneath the track.
But remember this track consist of narrow unprotected rail bridges and narrow tunnels. Therefore its always a good idea to familiar with the train schedule on the track you are traveling. It is also illegal to walk along the rail track but its not strictly enforced.
