Udaberagama Punyawardanaramaya Viharaya at Ambalantota – උඩබෙරගම පුන්යවර්ධනාරාමය
This is one of many temples in Ruhuna which has been built upon ancient temple of the Ruhunu Kindom of Sri Lanka. This temple lies between Ambalatota and Hambantota about 5 km away from the main road.
Number of ancient ruins including a statue of a Bodhisattva or a king and and a stupa almost resembling a mound of earth can be found here. Generally most of the ancient temples found in this area goes back to pre christian times.
-0-To reach this temple, pass Nonagama Junction and take the Beragama Road from Ambalanthota. Use the map as the guide from here to reach the temple. The distance is approximately 4.7 km from the Beragama Junction.
