At the turnoff to the Lebanon Estate Waterfall No 1

The Lebanon Estate in Kandy District hides two large and beautiful waterfalls. These waterfalls are relatively unknown and have no names. One waterfall (No 2) lies near the turn-off to the Lebanon estate on Bambarella Road.

Hulu Ganga River from the Knuckles Mountain range flows through the estate and crosses the Bambarella Road near this junction. Waterfall No 1 lies about 1 km upstream from the bridge, this 30-meter waterfall is formed and the water plunges into a pool in a straight fall.

This waterfall lies deep inside the estate and was only known by the people living inside the estate until recently. You need to take the road towards the estate just after a steel bridge built during the colonial era. It is a 1.5 km hike through line rooms to reach this waterfall.

This waterfall is not listed in the database of LCWF.

Route to Lebanon Estate Waterfall No 1

Commencing from the vicinity of the steel bridge, there is a trek of 1.4 kilometres to reach the waterfall. The estate road leading to the waterfall is in a highly deteriorated state. After the first 300 meters on this road, you need to divert and cross the Hulu Ganga River. There is a narrow steel bridge for foot traffic which a 3-wheeler can barely use.

Beneath the bridge, there is a shoe bridge which goes underwater when the water level of the river rises. If this shoe bridge is usable, you could use a 4-wheel drive to go up to the waterfall. Else you could hire a 3 wheeler from the junction to make the trip.
