Palugamuwa Sri Pushparama Purana Devapita Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist temple known for its historic Tampita Viharaya from the Kandyan era. The temple is situated on the Madampe – Kuliyapitiya road, located between Dummalasuriya and Udubaddawa. It is approximately 11 km from Madampe and 13 km from Kuliyapitiya.

To reach the temple from Madampe, travel 10 km along the Madampe – Kuliyapitiya road. You will find the access road to the temple marked by a small board on your left. This access road is situated 2.2 km away from the Dummalasuriya Police Station.

A Tampita Viharaya is a distinctive architectural structure built on a wooden platform supported by several stone pillars, typically 3 to 4 feet in height. The roof is held up by a timber framework, and the walls are generally constructed using wattle and daub. The interior walls of the chamber within are often decorated with paintings, primarily in the Kandyan artistic style.

The Tampita Viharaya at Sri Pushparama Purana Viharaya is designed as a two-story building, with the upper floor serving as the Tampita Viharaya itself. The ground floor is currently bare. The area at ground level has been extended outwards on all four sides by adding a lower-level roof supported by brick and mortar pillars.

The Tampita Viharaya at Kolamunna Sri Pushparama Purana Viharaya was designated as a protected archaeological monument by the Department of Archaeology, under Gazette No. 1264, dated 22 November 2002.
