This 40m high Ravan Ella fall is located 37km from Nuwara Eliya on the Welimada – Perawella road near the Uduwahara temple. Coming from Welimada to Udupussalwa, turn at the Ambagasdeva junction and take the Perawella road to the upper end of Udunavara village. It is 23km from Ella rest-house.

According to folklore a copper pot filled with gold sits buried right under the waterfall in the pool below and on certain days the pot surfaces but this pot has never been recovered by anyone. This folklore has probably caused this fall to be named Ravan where Ranvan means Golden.

This waterfall is also called Rawan Ella (රාවන් ඇල්ල, රැවැන් ඇල්ල, රවැන් ඇල්ල) and Ravana Ella ( රාවනා ඇල්ල, රාවන ඇල්ල)

The Welimada – Korandekumbura Road is a rough but motorable road. The waterfall is located about 1 km from the Korandekumbura town centre and you need to walk 200-300 meters to reach the waterfall.
