This 3m perennial Bambarun Gahana Ella Waterfall originates from the Dunumadala River in the Kawdagama mountain range. The fall has inspired much local poetry. It is situated 1km from the village of Puwakpitiya in the Matale District Laggala PC. Take the Matale – Laggala road. Turn off at Illukumura Bazaar and proceed for 5km to Kahagala. From here, it is necessary to trek for a further 5km to reach the fall.
Although the LCWF indicates a 5km trek reach this waterfall, Based on a Lakdasun Report this fall can be reached with a 1 km hike. The existance and the directions to this waterfall is only known by the villages of Puwakpitiya. The people of the Illukkumbura is not aware of this waterfall.
Therefore travel to the village of Puwakpitiya and there is a foot path along the Puwakpitiya Ancient temple towards the fall. The this path will lead to Dunumadala Oya and then travel upstream about 50 meters to reach the fall. A guide from the village might be a good idea if hunting for this waterfall.
