The Pansalgodella Archaeological Site is an undocumented and largely forgotten heritage location situated in the Galamuna area of the Lankapura Divisional Secretariat Division in the Polonnaruwa District. It can be easily visited along the route to Somawathi Chetiya, just before reaching Sungavila on the Hingurakgoda road.
The site is located in a cleared patch of jungle in the village of Pansalgodella and contains the remains of an ancient monastery, including upright stone pillars that may have belonged to an image house, as well as both standing and seated Buddha statues. Several other stone fragments are also scattered across the area. Sadly, the heads of the Buddha statues have been destroyed, either through natural causes or by human greed for treasures.
