Kolongahamaditta Ambalama at Soranathota – සොරණාතොට කොළොන්ගහමඩිත්ත අම්බලම

The ancient Kolongahamaditta Ambalama is a wayside rest found on the Soranathota road on the route to Soranathota Buduge Kanda Rajamaha Viharaya.
The ambalama is a brick and mortar square structure with four huge cylindrical pillars rising from the half height walls. The half walls of the ambalama served as a benches for the travelers.
The roof is designed in a hip roof style, a popular ambalama style during the Kandyan Era. The roof is tiled with clay Calicut tiles (rata ulu), probably an addition during a restoration of recent times.
