Tampita Viharaya (Temple on Pillars) is a structure built on a wooden platform which rests on number of stone stumps usually 2-4 feet tall. The roof is held by a structure built of timber and the walls are generally made of wattle and daub and the inner walls are generally covered with frescoes drawn mainly in Kandyan style.
Aluthdivulwewa lies about 25 km off Galenbindunuwewa. From Galenbindunuwewa take the Tammannawa Road and travel 25km to reach the Aluthdivulwewa area.
Aluthdivulwewa Sri Jayasumanaramaya is marked on the map below as this seems to be the only temple in the area. It is possible the temple referred in the book is a different temple in the vicinity.
